In an era without Donald Trump as president, NBC's Saturday Night Live is no longer able to lean on politics for its cold open in quite the same way as it used to with sketches involving Joe Biden unlikely to generate similar laughs. Instead on Saturday evening's program, the cast sent up what will be undoubtedly Sunday evening's most watched television show, the Super Bowl. In several women came forward claiming they were touched inappropriately by Biden who promised to be 'much more mindful' of respecting personal space. Last week the program completely avoided parodying or joking about the pair in its first episode since they were sworn into office.
The always hilarious Saturday Night Live gave the Hallmark Channel the comedy treatment this weekend, when it served up a larger-than-life spoof of the network's holiday movies —in game show format. Aidy Bryant stole the skit with her portrayal of "Emily Cringle," the host of a fictional new game show titled, "A Winter Boyfriend for Holiday Christmas. The winning bachelor gets to join Lauren in Hallmark's prized "Gazebo Suite," where the new couple will be allowed to share "a single dry kiss. As the contest progresses with no clear winner, a chime alerts Emily that it's almost Christmas time. If Lauren doesn't pick a bachelor to marry by then, "Christmas is canceled, and the killer goes free.
